Practical Use of the Theory of the Human Brain Function


The theory of the Human Brain function depicted in this site and in the book Neural Science and Neural Computing can be practically used. The main question is how to use it and what we can expect from such theory.

When we talk about practical use of the theories dealing with function of the human brain we have to keep in mind what we want to know and what we want to create. Medical doctors want to know how the brain works to cure some diseases. On the other hand technicians want to build computers that will work as the human brain works.

Medical purposes

The main goal of medical doctors is to cure diseases. When we talk about the human brain we have to think about mental diseases or about mental discrepancies that people must suffer from. The today’s medicine is not able to cure some types of mental discrepancies and illnesses. The typical mental discrepancies are some psychosomatic illnesses or diseases. The typical examples are allergies, asthma, depressions, etc. Some somatic diseases or illnesses also come from mental discrepancies as well.

Some theories say that these diseases have its origin in malfunction of the brain structures. If the function of the brain was discovered, we could discover real causes of these diseases and methods how to cure them

How the brain controls contraction and relief of muscles and blood flow in the veins

Physics helped to describe the body movement and the movement of fluids in the vein system. Therefore medical doctors can better detect problems of the human heart and all diseases related to veins. The body movement was described in the physics, but the description was on mechanical base that does not explain why the brain controls muscles and how it is done. Blocked veins cause insufficiency of the oxygen in some parts of the human body. Therefore these parts lack energy to work properly. Doctors mostly solve problems of mechanical blocks in the veins.

There exist also temporary blocks in the vein system that are not mechanical. These blocks are caused by the contraction of veins. This problem can cause limited supply of blood and oxygen in the tissues. The veins are not mechanically blocked; the blood could flow to the tissues with no problem. However the tissue dies of the insufficiency of oxygen for limited blood flow to this tissue. The cause of that is in bad control of muscles or blood flow through veins. Physics cannot explain such problem. Problems of control must be explained using mathematical principles of the systems’ control. These principles are known for control of technical devices.

The method depicted in this book can be used practically to explain following functions of the human body and brain.

How the brain memorizes information in the neural structures

People are often interested how to improve intelligence or memory. When we find the real principles how the brain memorizes information, we can improve memory while we can limit negative impact on to the human health during extensive overuse of the brain.

The effort of the book was to show some principles that can serve as memory. All principles described in the book are based on the theories based on natural principles. As we do not know real principles and it is very difficult to discover them, the book shows theories that can contribute to find them or to show the way to look for them.

Principles of the brain memory are very complex. Therefore they will be described in another paper of this site.

 

How the mental illnesses or diseases occur in the human brain

Mental diseases mostly do not cause death of the persons having them. In spite of that these diseases are very serious in regard of use of the person in the community. People ill with mental diseases are mostly set aside. They do not live with other people. Unfortunately, these diseases cannot be cured as they touch the neural structures irreversible way. When mental diseases occurs, it is not possible to cure it fully.

The best way is to avoid it. When one wants to avoid mental disease, that person should understand how to do it. The best way is to understand the principles of the human brain destruction. People do much when they know what to do. The extensive sporting to avoid heart attack is one of examples that can support this idea. When people will know what to do to keep mental health, they will do that.

People must know scientific information that is verified. They cannot test some methods on their own health. Theories depicted in the book show basic and simple ways how to avoid problems with the brain. The information that people need to help themselves is very simple as well as sporting to avoid heart attack.

People often test many different methods that help in one way but they do not know that in another way are these methods noxious. The typical examples are methods improving memory. These methods help to improve memory; which is true. On the other side there exists one side effect that is noxious.

The neural structures, when we overuse them, increase its size. They memorize more and more information two basic ways. The first way is via destruction of neurons; the second way is increasing number of connections and increasing the size of existing connections.

Both ways increase instability of the brain. So the people who increase their memory very extensively can suffer from increased anxiety and depressions. However these negative consequences occur much later than required result of increased memory’s capacity. At the time when it occurs, people cannot do anything as all connections are tightly fixed in the brain. Reverse way to the original state is closed.

This is an only one example of how to use knowledge of the brain function to avoid problems with mental stability. Problems of mental stability can be explained using mathematical principles better that using medical principles as the stability is mathematical problem. Consequences of the brain function instability are clear medical problem. At this point mathematics cannot help at all.

Philosophical and psychological purposes

The problem of the brain function discovery is not very seriously accepted at this time. Generally, the human brain function is understood to be so complicated that it cannot be discovered in the relatively short time. Results of the research show on to the different position about this reality. The function of the human brain is not undiscoverable. It seems that the basic functions of the human brain will be discovered quite soon. The basic functions of the brain are most important for people to start understand the brain in details. The detailed understanding will take a time. I do not expect the full and totally complete understanding of the brain function. But partial understanding will come very soon and it will change the life of people so substantially that it is difficult to predict it now. We will stay in front of reality quite soon that the function of the brain is known. So we have to reason now about such possibility before it occurs.

Let us imagine that the human brain will be discovered very soon and that we have to predict problems that can occur in the human community over the whole World. I do not mean the fact that the people can build artificial brain with artificial intellect that could be better that human intellect. I mean the increased knowledge about the brain function and how it will change the people. What will people be doing when they know much more about the brain than anyone ever before. This will be bigger change in the human community than an only creation of the artificial intellect. The human intellect will improve and it must improve before it is able to use artificial intellect.

Now we have to think about the increase of human intellect first. What we can expect from the increase of the human intellect? Will people be using or abusing the deep knowledge of the brain function? What are the existing human abilities? How they will change in case of understanding function of the human brain? These are only few questions that will have to be answered in the near future.

It is known that people are partially able to understand thinking of other people. Other words, we can say that people can partially read ideas of other people. People develop some methods for business purposes that can control behavior of other people. Mostly these methods are to persuade people to buy something for the highest possible price. These abilities of ordinary people are not excellent, but trained people can do it much better that inexperienced people. Therefore we can expect that people will be able to read ideas of other people much better than they are able to do it now.

There is a question how it works. The human brain works as both, analog computer and digital computer as well. The impulses generated in the neural structure move in the whole brain and body. The human body is long or tall enough to be understood as antenna. One body transmits impulses and another body receives them. The person that receives impulses is either able or not able to detect and process meaning of these impulses. Very sensitive people can better detect impulses from transmitting people than others. They can also very often understand them better than others.

There is one problem of the representation of these impulses by the receiving person. The every person experiences such situation every day during contact with other people. So where is the problem? The receiving person is never sure whether received information is correct or not. The people are not very sensitive to understand received information always correctly. As we do not know function of the brain, we cannot well represent information transmitted by other people.

When we understand the function of the human brain much better that now, we will be able to understand thinking of other people and they will not be able to control what others understand and what they do not understand. Very similar situation is now with sending the encrypted information via Internet. No sender of the encrypted information can be absolutely sure that no one has decrypted this message. Encryption mechanisms are so complicated that it is expected that no one can decrypt it. But if someone has created better decryption method that it is known in the World and if he/she does not inform about it, so that person can decrypt information and sender never can find that the information was decrypted.

The human brain does not have any encryption/decryption mechanisms, so it will be possible to understand some kind of thinking and the people will not be able to control it. So why people do not read thinking of other people now? The people are sensitive enough to read ideas of other people or they are not able to decode them.

Other words, it means that potentially; anyone will be able to know anything about anyone. I mean especially feelings, not mathematical or technical theories or secrets. But people will be able to detect a person that keeps some secret. Lay detectors have been built to do such work. However results of lay detectors are not very reliable. People are more sensitive than any electronic devices. They will be able of understanding to the ideas of other people.

So we have to ask whether such discovery is good or bad for people. I would like to offer one answer to this question. More information about anyone will bring more open relations among people. Openness is often very good. For people having clear and open thinking it will be good. They will not need to be afraid of their thinking.

It seems that ability to read thinking of other people is not new. People only do not know who can understand them and how precisely. The better knowledge of the brain function will extend this ability to the bigger number of people. The better knowledge of the brain function will increase education of people about nature’s laws.

The deep understanding to the function of the brain is also the first step to understand the other people and their thinking. Such deep understanding will bring something we cannot predict at this time.

Technical and mathematical purposes

The function of the human brain will enable creation of the new computers and robots that will be able to work and think like only people can. Scientists have developed genetic algorithms (GA) that serve them as a model of the human brain function. I did not study GA’s in details so I cannot talk about them professionally. But I found out in the Internet Web sites that genetic algorithms are based on stochastic processes that build new genetic generations. Children inherit characteristics from their parents, etc.

These algorithms simulate very slow processes in the human life, as far as I understand them well. But the human brain must immediately react to the changed conditions in the life. These reactions cannot be random or stochastic. Thinking is not stochastic process. The thinking is based either on reaction to the outer action or it is action based on memory record. It is difficult to imagine how stochastic processor can control processes of body movement of an athlete that must do very precise movements. These movements are never absolutely the same when they are repeated, but we can say that they are nearly the same.

The nature is based on stochastic processes that people must respond to. The brain is regulator according to my theories. Therefore when we measure brain potentials during the brain functions, it seems that the brain function is based on stochastic processes.

The stochastic processes are partially present in the switching matrix of neural connections, saying it mathematically. It means that we can observe that brain changes connections in the big areas of neurons. From the point-of-view of one neuron are these processes stochastic. But when we see all regions of the brain, we can say that these processes are not stochastic.

Some mental illnesses are being discovered from electroencephalograph observations of the human brain. Diagnoses of that type are not very reliable, but they can be repeated. This means that that the brain potentials are not stochastic. The theory depicted in the book -- Neural Computing and Neural Science (NCNS) -- shows one possible theory that can describe function of the brain.

The goal of this paper was to show how the book NCNS could be used practically. The practical use is also understood in the sense of possibility to build artificial brain. The artificial brain can be successfully built only in the case when we know real processes in the brain. The book NCNS offers some principles that can be used to understand function of the human brain.

Practical use of the theory in business

Many people are often interested how to use theories in business. So I have been thinking how to use just this theory for improvement of business. Is it possible to use the theory about the human brain function for business purposes? Yes, it is possible. In this part I would explain how I have used this theory for business purposes and what was the success of such endeavor.

During my life I have participated on several projects. Some of them were based on science and some were based on business only. As I write in here about business so I will concentrate only or especially on to the projects dealing with business. The every business has much confidentiality in general dealing with money, profits, revenue, gain, etc. Therefore, I would prefer to concentrate on theoretical approach to avoid misunderstandings and any legal problems. The results of these theories are not theories they are very practical.

I can say that I have used this theory many times. In every case the results of such use were surprising in positive manner. The theories about the function of the human brain can influence the human behavior to increase effectiveness of the processes companies use. The knowledge I have got about the function of the human brain at this time allows the increase of the annual revenue of the company twice or up to 4 times depending upon the type of business. The gain of the company is very proportional to the revenue having certain delay.

The first results can be seen in few months and the first results having impact on the gain in half of the year. The theories about the function of the human brain are very effective for enterprise. No other theories can be similar ones. My experience says that type of business does not matter. All these theories have been verified on some examples and I can say that they are very reliable. There are no big risks that would cause company’s failure or decrease of the company’s profit.

These theories are more efficient than any other impact on business of a company including contribution of businesspersons in company. (Note: These theories are not similar to the theories of Dale Carnegie.)

I do not expect people will trust these theories after they read this paper. These theories must be seen in action in order the people could believe them. I have experienced such growth several times.

Conclusions

The goal of my effort has been to understand function of the human brain in details to help people to understand themselves much better. Now I have another goal. It is to explain all ideas published in my book NCNS in details, as I found that they are not very easy to be understood.
